Truffle establishment within a woodland

Starting in 2008 we trialed another new approach to truffle cultivation that involves planting saplings within a woodland environment.

Our primary site is now planted with its first two trial
plots (440 trees). The trial is a partnership-plantation an
d will eventually contain 1,100 trees spread across five plots with differing conditions.

A lot of time/expertise has gone into the preparation of this trial and updates will be published here as the trial progresses. The predictive benefits of this approach include a short time to harvest due to certain conditions found within the woodland.

If you have a woodland site and would like to try this approach,
please e-mail us for further
details.

The prime tree planting time November – March is upon us. Traditionally, November to March are good months to plant, as the trees are dormant and planting in the winter allows the truffley-roots plenty of time to settle in before mycorrhiza and root-growth starts again in spring.
